ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A guilty plea from the man accused of attacking a cab driver in downtown Rochester last summer.

Eugene Hutchings, 47, will spend 25 years in prison for his plea to attempted murder, assault and attempted robbery.

Police say on July 18th, Hutchings pulled a knife on a 69-year old cab driver on Liberty Pole Way and demanded money.

Prosecutors say the driver did not have time to hand over any money before Hutchings stabbed him several times.

Police captured Hutchings a short time later near the Elk Hotel on North Clinton Avenue.

The cab driver was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital. He survived the attack.
