It's that time of the year, Daylight Saving Time comes to an end, but this time it comes with good news; an extra hour of sleep.

At 2 a.m. the clocks will roll back to 1 .m.

It's also a good time to check on smoke alarm batteries.

Officials from the Firemen's Association of the State of New York say it saves lives.

"People sometimes don't think those few seconds that you get from being woken up from a smoke alarm matter, but they really do. You have to realize that if a fire starts in your house, it has been going for a while before you even know about it," said John D'Alessandro, FASNY secretary. "So by the time you wake up without a smoke alarm it may be too late."

Officials say three of every five fire deaths occur in homes without working smoke alarms.
