It was 76 years ago Japanese fighters attacked Pearl Harbor.
A ceremony remembering those who lost their lives was held Thursday aboard the Intrepid — capped with a symbolic wreath lying.
Among those taking part was veteran Armando "Chick" Galella.
He survived the attack on Pearl Harbor that claimed some 2,400 lives.
"All of a sudden I hear boom boom and I look around and there's smoke coming out of Pearl Harbor because Hickam field is right next to Pearl Harbor," Galella said. "And I say what's going on and I look up and see the red circles.
"Hickam field is still burning. And asked about my best friend John. And I say 'Anybody seen my friend John?' He got killed that day."
Galella won a bronze star for his courage in the Battle of Okinawa later in the war.
It's estimated there are fewer than 2,500 Pearl Harbor survivors still alive now.
