If the forecast comes true, it might be worth setting your alarm clock to wake up and look towards the skies as the Geminid meteor shower, the expected best of 2017, comes to a peak.

Astronomers say anywhere between 100 to 160 meteors per hour might be seen especially during the hours of midnight to 4 a.m. Thursday.

This meteor shower is unique:  the source of the Geminids is debris from an asteroid, not a comet, and it therefore might be a much better show than any other meteor shower of the year.
