POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Officials said it's a little safer in the city of Poughkeepsie after 18 arrests were made in "Operation PK Pickup."

Search warrants were executed in the morning, with police uncovering more than $20,000 in cash, 85 grams of crack, as well as cocaine, heroin, guns and more. A number of charges were brought, including criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Officials said the investigation has been going on for a few months. They hope these arrests will deter people from selling drugs.

"I think you need to think twice before selling drugs in this city, because you don’t know who's going to be looking for you, and you also don’t know who is going to be coming to hold you accountable,” said Mayor Rob Rolison.
