After a day in the upper 50s, and even a few low 60s, across the Piedmont on Thursday, Friday will bring a bit of a cool down along with more cloud cover before a warming trend and an increasing chance for rain kicks off on Sunday.

Friday will feature partly cloudy skies with slightly below average temperatures, with highs expected to top off in the 40s and low 50s with 30s in the mountains.

High pressure moving in from the southwest tonight will cause winds to pick up once again in the mountains, with gusts between 25 and 30 miles per hour possible through early Saturday morning.

Once the center of high pressure moves just to the south of us, we'll gear up for a day of sunshine and near average temperatures to start the weekend on Saturday.

Sunday will mark the beginning of a warming trend and increase in moisture that will take us into the first part of next work week. The atmospheric flow aloft will make a shift back to the southwest, allowing moisture and warmer air to begin pushing in from the south.

While Sunday should remain dry, at least for the Piedmont, expect increasing cloud cover before rain begins moving in overnight.

Monday into at least Tuesday of next week will feature cloudy skies and showers coupled with "spring-like" temperatures.

Daytime highs across the Piedmont will be about 10 to 20 degrees above average, with temperatures warming into the mid- to possibly upper 60s Tuesday afternoon!
