Baldwinsville officials say the village is experiencing flooding of sewer lift stations due to Friday's inclement weather.

"In order to protect private property the Village is being forced to pump untreated, diluted sanitary sewer from the Elsworth Road lift station into Crooked Brook," the village said on a Facebook post Friday afternoon. The village is asking for no unnecessary travel by residents due to "localized flooding in and around the village".

Route 690 southbound between Downer St. Road and Van Buren Road was briefly closed, and as of 4:50 p.m., according to the Department of Transportation, Route 48 southbound remains closed in that area.

Some Syracuse homes and properties are also dealing with flooding. There have been numerous reports of basements needing to be pumped out. Some fire departments have also been assisting property owners with sandbags.

In Ilion, Route 51 between John and West streets was closed temporarily as crews responded to flooding. Ice jammed in Steele Creek, causing water and ice chunks to be pushed over a bridge and onto the road.

The Ilion Fire Chief says heavy equipment was brought in. With it, responders were able to break the ice up and get the creek flowing again. A few houses did flood, but no one was hurt.

In Mentz, Route 31 between Main Street and Maple Avenue is closed in both directions due to flooding at of 4:50 p.m., per the DOT.
