If you’ve got to use the restroom when you’re in downtown Wilmington, your options are limited.

USA InvestCo was supposed to build a facility near Blackfinn AmeriPub early last year, before the restaurant could open.

Because of the Wells Fargo Golf tournament, the city allowed them to open with requirements -- install the facilities within 90 days or face a $250,000 fine. However, that still hasn’t happened.

In the meantime, people could use Blackfinn’s facilities, but as of now, it’s closed for renovations.

USA InvestCo said they are in the process of rebranding Blackfinn as the new Marina Grill. They declined to comment on the bathroom issue and we have yet to hear back from the city.

Business owners said they’re bearing the burden.

“You have your guests coming into Wilmington and they have to use private business restrooms. The businesses are paying to maintain that restroom. They are paying for the usage of water,” said John Hirchak.

The Marina Grill is set to open in March.
