SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: It's estimated that in 2017, approximately 5,300 people were homeless for at least one night in Rochester. Every year, a local group collects those numbers and reports them to the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Getting an accurate count means hitting the streets, and that process is set to begin next week.

News reporter Cristina Domingues has more on how the data will be used to help fund housing and establish assistance programs for the homeless.
