After days of sunshine and mild conditions, the weekend will put an end to this streak of dry weather as a cold front approaches from the west.

Friday will feature one more day of sunshine before the area of high pressure that has been keeping us dry begins its trek offshore. Temperatures will be a bit warmer than Thursday's, with highs topping off in the upper 50s across the Piedmont -- low 60s certainly aren't out of the question for some locations either! A cold front pushing through the Central and Northern Plains will swing into the Mississippi Valley overnight, allowing for Gulf moisture to increase ahead of it. Expect increasing clouds through Friday night, with skies becoming mostly cloudy by Saturday morning.

Saturday will remain dry during the day across the Piedmont. The rain associated with the passage of this frontal system will hold off until late Saturday night and continue during the day Sunday. While Sunday will likely feature an all-day rain event, rainfall totals should remain under a half an inch.

Moisture quickly clears to the east by Monday morning as cooler and drier air moves in behind it. Dry weather will resume for the first part of the work week, with the exception of snow showers in the High Country on Monday evening. A colder airmass sinking in will lead to a short period of below-average temperatures, with highs in the 40s expected on Tuesday.
