NORTH CAROLINA -- Fifteen breweries from across the Tar Heel state are getting together this month to spread some "Valentine's Day love" to animal shelters. 

"Brew to the Rescue" is a new NC Beer competition happening Feb. 5-9.

The breweries are, themselves, raising funds through individual fundraising pages. The brewery that raises the most money wins.

The deadline to donate (for the sake of this competition, at least) is Feb. 9 at 5 p.m.
