Big day to day changes are ahead in our weather through the upcoming weekend.  We'll be comfortable in short sleeve shirts Friday, but we'll need our coats and jackets again by Saturday.

We find ourselves Friday on the warm side of an approaching cold front.  Temperatures will soar into the upper 70s and low 80s across central North Carolina through mid afternoon.  The record high for the date in Raleigh stands at 77 from 1976.  In Fayetteville, the record is 82 from 1989.  We stand a very good chance of coming close to or breaking those records.

Spotty showers will be possible from late Friday afternoon into the evening as the cold front moves from northwest to southeast across the state.

Temperatures will then steadily drop through the night eventually reaching the low 40s by early Saturday morning.

Cloudy skies across North Carolina Saturday morning will lock temperatures into the 40s all day.

Low pressure moving over the Carolinas will bring rain back to the region by Saturday afternoon.  The showers will likely continue into Saturday night before coming to an end before sunrise Sunday.

Clearing skies early Sunday morning will give way to a mostly sunny Sunday.  After morning lows in the 30s, highs should rebound into the low 60s in the afternoon.
