Last Friday, Charlotte shattered a record for the daytime high for February 16, coming in with a toasty 82 degrees. With a persistent warm, southerly flow underway, Charlotte will likely break the record high yet again for February 21.

High pressure off the east coast Wednesday will continue to pump plenty of unseasonably warm, moist air into the Carolinas over the next few days. This will lead to days of spotty shower chances along with spring-like temperatures.

Highs Wednesday in Charlotte are expected to reach into the mid/upper 70s, likely breaking the previous record of 75 degrees set back in 1986. Upslope showers will be possible across the High Country through the start of the weekend, with chances tapering off working eastward into lower elevations.

Daytime highs will remain in the 70s into at least the start of the weekend before the passage of a cold front finally brings some change to the forecast. A cold front currently slated to pass through Sunday will bring better chances for rain to end out the weekend, and then a cool down to follow.

Cool, dry air will move in behind it, allowing daytime highs to drop into the 50s and 60s early next week and be coupled with the return of sunshine!
