Strong thunderstorms and heavy rain brought flooding to New York City on Tuesday, soaking the evening rush hour.

One last round of showers and storms was expected around 11 p.m. before a cold front arrives and drops the humidity.

Storms walloped the five boroughs earlier in the day. About 2.2 inches of rain fell in Central Park, while LaGuardia Airport was splashed with about 1.6, and JFK Airport received a little less than an inch.

All that rain provided plenty of headaches for New Yorkers, including transit delays, flooded streets, and, of course, hydroplaning:

The heaviest downpours crashed into the city between about 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Portions of the FDR Drive were closed for hours.

The rain made for some incredible sights, however:

But some sights were not awe-inspiring, as a tree fell on several vehicles on 71st St. on the Upper West Side.

New York City had not faced much rain since the beginning of June — until Tuesday.

The next few days are forecast to be dry, however, and a high temperature of 86 is projected for Wednesday.

Over the weekend and into next week, there is another chance for rain.
