BUFFALO, N.Y. — With his dying breath, Freddie Dizon said something that helped identify his killer.

Jorge Suarez was convicted Friday in the May 2016 shooting death of Dizon at the Anchor Bar on Main Street. He was also found guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in Erie County Court.

After the verdict was announced, District Attorney John Flynn noted that Dizon said Suarez’s first name before he died, albeit he used the wrong last name. That utterance was key as there was no DNA found in the restaurant’s kitchen, where the shooting took place, and Suarez wrapped a white t-shirt around his face as he entered and walked to the kitchen.

Suarez faces 25 years to life in prison when he's sentenced on December 21.

Gregory Ramos, the alleged getaway driver, still faces a murder charge in the case.
