An arctic cold front continues to march its way to the southeast from Canada. We expect the leading edge of the cold air to reach the city by sunrise on Friday morning.

Temperatures will plunge into the 30s and then hold in the 30s all day long. Winds will be gusty out of the northwest and that will make it feel like its in the 20s.

Skies will clear quickly on Friday revealing plenty of sunshine. Despite the sun, Friday will still feel like the middle of January.

With clear skies, temperatures will easily drop into the 20s Friday night. The record low Saturday morning will likely be broken.

Saturday will still be cold, but with sunshine and a lot less wind, it should feel better.

By Sunday, the cold air eases its grip over the northeast and temperatures get back to around 50 going into next week.
