Rhode Island was added to the travel quarantine list for people traveling into New York that includes 34 states and Puerto Rico, Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced.

Delaware and Washington, D.C. were taken off the list of states and territories where travel requires people to isolate themselves for 14 days upon entering New York.

"Our progress in New York is even better than we expected, thanks to the hard work of New Yorkers. Our numbers continue to decline steadily, and for the third straight day in a row, there were no reported deaths in New York City," Cuomo said.

"But we must protect that progress, which is why today we are adding another state to our travel advisory. We cannot go back to the hell we experienced just a few months ago - and surging infection rates across the country threaten to bring us back there - so we must all remain vigilant."

New York's overall infection rate has continued to remain level at around 1 percent out of the tens of thousands of test results. Cuomo announced 70,993 tests were conducted and 746 positive cases were found.

Three people have died in the last 24 hours and hospitalizations stand at 568 patients, an increase of 32 cases from a day ago.
