Now is the time of year where many Western New Yorkers normally would enjoy some of the area's most popular festivals, fairs, concerts, and events.

The coronavirus pandemic has forced some to postpone and others to cancel completely.

Here is a list of some of the major events and their status as of May 28. 

 

Erie County Fair

The 2020 Erie County Fair was scheduled for August 12 - 23 but will now take place next August 11-22. 

Refunds for 12-day passes are available through the mail.

Niagara County Fair

The Niagara County Fair has been postponed until 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It was originally scheduled for August 5-August 9, 2020.

A virtual showcase of 4-H animals is being planned.

Genesee County Fair

Originally scheduled for July 25-August 1, the Genesee County Fair has been pushed back to July 24-31, 2021 due to safety concerns from the Coronavirus. 

The Fair announced that it would not be able to operate until phase four, and that safety requirements would have made preparation and execution difficult.

Allegany County Fair

The 2020 Allegany County Fair has been cancelled, citing safety concerns and a lack of faith that approvals and permits will be issued in time for the original July 20-25 dates.

Organizers are hopeful the event will take place in 2021.

Wyoming County Fair 

Originally scheduled for August 15-22, 2020, the Wyoming County Fair has been cancelled. The overall uncertainty of the re-openings of fairs during phase four impacted the decision. 

The event is now being planned for August 14-21, 2021.

Cattaraugus County Fair 

The Cattaraugus County Fair has been cancelled for 2020. It has been rescheduled for August 1-8, 2021

Planned buildings and grounds improvements will continue, and discussions are being made to assist 4H youth programs.

Lucille Ball Comedy Festival

The 30th annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival in Jamestown, NY, originally scheduled for August 5-9, 2020 has been postponed until next August 4-8. 

Organizers cancelled the event as a precautionary measure against large social gatherings.

Orchard Park 4th of July Festivities 

The Town and Village of Orchard Park has cancelled their 4th of July parade and fireworks due to the pandemic.

A smaller parade is being planned.

Eden Corn Festival

The 2020 Eden Corn festival has been cancelled. 

Originally scheduled for August 6-9, organizers hope to hold the event next August 5-8.

Ellicottville Lacrosse Festival

The Ellicottville Lacrosse Festival, which was scheduled to take place September 20-22, has been canceled this year.

Each yeah, the festival hosts lacrosse players and families for a tournament, food and live entertainment.

Organizers say the festival will return in 2021.
